On Monday, September 01, 2008, Rotary Club Willemstad (RCW) was honored by a visit by District Governor Sebastian Collura and his lovely wife Mrs. Sandra de Collura. Accompanying the governor were Mr. Jaime de Sola, Assistant Governor and member of Rotary Club Curaçao and his charming wife.

The District Governor and the club exchanged information about past and future projects. Creative ways of raising funds were also discussed.

June 27, 2008 - As the last act of her presidency Ms. Van Rijn presented a cheque of NAfls 7,500 (approx. US$ 4.200) to Casa Cuna – Villa Maria. This organization (founded in 1951) provides day care as well as after school care to children whose parents work. The parents of the children at Villa Maria usually face tough economic conditions and have to struggle daily to make a living for themselves and their families.

On Friday, June 27 2008, the members of Rotary Club Willemstad and their guests flocked to Brakkeput Mei Mei for a special evening. The old colonial setting was the perfect backdrop for an evening of fellowship and camaraderie, as Stella van Rijn passed on leadership of the club to incoming president Patrick Thissen.

On Monday April 28th, 2008 members of Rotary Club Willemstad (RCW) had the honor and the pleasure of having three eminent officials of the Catholic Church attend their weekly lunch meeting.

The three visitors were Cardinal Ad Simonis, until recently Archbishop of Utrecht, Archbishop Thomas Gulickson, representative of the Pope in the Caribbean and monsignor Karel Kasteel, secretary general of the Papal Counsel Cor Unum.
