On December 22nd 2003, just in time for Christmas, Rotary Club of Willemstad was proud to present the result of our first community project. On said date the newly renovated and improved playground for sick children at the Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Curaçao was officially opened.
The project is the first tangible contribution of Rotary Club Willemstad. Preparations for the renovation, which was an initiative of Rotary Club Willemstad, started back in June 2003. Kees Baas recounts that the club was made aware of the need for the renovation by pediatrician Nena Abbad. After a formal presentation to the club the project was adopted.
In the afternoons of September 4, 11 and 18, 2009 the training ‘No Apologies, Wak Bo Kaya' was given to young people (between 10 and 16 years of age) who are attending the post-school programs of Casa Cuna Villa Maria and Sta Rosa.
The same training was given to youngsters attending the post-school program of Un Man pa Hubentud on September 11 (afternoon) and 12 (whole day).
The purpose of the training includes amongst others to increase the participants ability to be assertive in a correct manner, to show respect for each other and to avoid risk behavior etc.
